Benjamin Stephen

Charlotte: August 26, 2014 at age 87. Son of the late Stephen C. and Caroline Ockenden O\'Brien. A skilled craftsman and ship\'s carpenter, Ben was a lifelong resident of Charlotte and an avid sailor.

Past member of the Newport Yacht Club and a current member of the Rochester Yacht Club. Ben was a volunteer at the Charlotte lighthouse, a home vintner, master woodworker and greatly interested in local history. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Ben is survived by his sister, Nancy (William) Zawicki, nieces Nancy, Elizabeth, Mary Ellen, Kathleen, Martha and Patricia, seven great nephews and one great niece. He is predeceased by his sister Mary Anne Caple.

The family sincerely thanks the staff at St. Ann\'s and Lifetime Hospice for their compassionate, dedicated care.

Family and friends may call at Thomas, Tuesday 6-8pm. Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Church, Wednesday 11am. Interment and Military Honors, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
