Bernard Streb

Bernard George Streb of Pittsford NY passed away on June 22nd 2019 while doing what he loved most riding his bike on a beautiful sunny day with his dear companion of 10 years Diane Kochendorfer. Bernie, as he was affectionately known, was born in Rochester, NY on July 5, 1935 to Andrew and Ottilia (Koerner) Streb. He attended the Aquinas High School, Rochester, NY and then graduated from St Bonaventure University, Rochester, NY with a degree in Physics. He went on to study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he received an MBA. Bernie worked for the Boeing Corporation in Seattle WA, where he was involved in the engineering of Bomarc Missle. Years later worked with Mitre Corporation in Boston, MA and ultimately found his way back with his family to Rochester, NY working for over 30 years at Eastman Kodak until he retired in 1993.
He married Janice Ann Cormack in 1958 remaining together for 51 years until her passing in 2009. Bernie and Janice had 4 loving children together: Karen (Gordon) Brown of Londonderry, NH, MaryAnn Hoadley of Reston, VA, Eric (Athesia Benjamin) Streb of Rochester, NY and Amy (David) Isabel of Essex Fells, NJ. He had 4 Grandchildren: Garrett Brown, Courtney (Brown) Candido, Hayley Brown, Afa Benjamin, Laila Streb, Bernard Benny Streb, Sammy Streb and Charlotte Isabel and one great grandchild Gavin Brown. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his brother Paul Streb and his wife Audrey Ann Streb.
Bernie loved nature and being outdoors instilling this love in his children through the many camping trips taken throughout their childhood. He loved working in his garden, golfing, boating and sailing on Canandaigua Lake, and taking long bike rides with his children and grandchildren.
Bernie was a member of the Wednesday hiking club, biking club and enjoyed a competitive game of poker with his neighborhood friends.
He had a heart of gold and participated in volunteer activities including many trips to WV building homes for Habitat for Humanity, volunteering at the homeless shelter and mentoring a young boy from the City of Rochester through the Big Brothers and Sisters program.
