Farrell, Richard J Dick

Rochester: At the age of 83, Richard was called home to the Lord. On June 7, 2016 he passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Richard is predeceased by his parents Romy and Margaret Farrell, siblings Bernice, Margaret, Rosemary and brother Jack. He is survived by his loving wife Noel (DeAoun) of 63 years, his sons Timothy, Terence, Kevin, his daughter Karen (Frank) Alfano, grandchildren Kyle Farrell, Joseph & Thomas Alfano, great-grandchild Katarina and many nieces, nephews. A child of the Great Depression, Richard went on to live the American Dream as a hardworking Irish-American, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend of many, and a proud veteran having served in the Armys 82nd Airborne division. Raised in a Christian family along with schooling at St. Charles and Aquinas Institute, Richard developed strong beliefs in God, family, country, and hard work. His hard work as a tradesman and an eventual career with the County of Monroe (from which he retired in 1988) was a foundation upon which he supported his family. Family was always a priority. He enjoyed the fruits of his labor with family and friends at both his Rochester home and his summer home on Lake Ontario. May God hold Richard in the palm of his hand where he will live on in the hearts and minds of those who have known him.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 13, 4:00-8:00 p.m., at Thomas Funeral Chapels, 4545 Lake Ave., Rochester, NY. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. On Tuesday June 14, at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Ave., Rochester, NY.
